The Lead Data Solution Architect is focused on establishing the technology vision and standards for our data portfolio, along with architecting a suite of data products that are used by our external customers as well as internally. These systems are for managing and discovering information from data, aligning solutions around data storage, data governance, data movement, Business Intelligence, and analytics. The level of work required is advanced and staff must be able to work under minimal supervision. This job does not have any direct reports.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Partner with our data management office, including the Chief Data Officer and product managers, to influence and establish the roadmap for our data products.

  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture and Infrastructure (“National IT”) organizations providing thought leadership with the implementation of data solutions that adhere to Enterprise Architecture and infrastructure roadmap/standards.

  • Interfaces with stakeholders across the enterprise to evaluate and contribute to technology requirements for enabling business solutions.

  • Provides oversight on the architecture and design of data solutions, including technical guidance to other data architects and data engineers.

  • Lead research, analyze, propose, and architect data solutions that align with the policies and requirements of the business and technology.

  • Keep our data ontology and data catalogs up to date, and to work with various other organizations to align that metadata across the Federal Reserve System.

  • Leads and aligns architecture choices to ensure that enterprise architecture standards, product quality and availability requirements, and cost efficiency are met to support tactical and strategic business objectives.

  • Participates in architecture reviews to evaluate and ensure that the design being applied meets policies, principles, standards, and business/technology needs and roadmaps.

  • Maintains knowledge of emerging technology trends and utilizes this knowledge to design innovative solutions that support and drive business objectives and technology roadmaps.

  • Evaluates products and technologies and their alternatives for use in proposed solutions.

  • Influences and communicates with all levels of the FRS on business, information, and complex technical subjects and roadmaps.

  • Serves as top-level organizational expert for the data architecture discipline.

  • Participation in Federal Reserve System level, or cross business, workgroups.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Your Background :

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Software Architecture, Information Systems or other related fields or equivalent work experience.

  • Seven or more total years of experience in multiple Information technology disciplines.

  • Five or more years of experience in data solution architecture.

  • Broad knowledge of Information Technology Systems, with strong understanding of the relationship between business processes, data management, analytics, reporting, and information security.

  • Strong knowledge and work experience in Databases such as Oracle, Postgres SQL, AWS Redshift, DynamoDB, and AWS Aurora DB.

  • Strong knowledge in data architecture patterns such as Data Mesh, Data Lakehouse.

  • Strong knowledge and experience working with data management practices including data storage, movement, and quality.

  • Experience with a data cataloging tools such Collibra, is a plus.

  • Strong knowledge and experience working with Business Intelligence, Databases, reporting, and analytics tools such as Tableau, BOXi, Quicksight, and Grafana.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, specifically to explain concepts, options, alternatives, and rationale for solutions.

  • Ability to work on multiple tasks while coaching others simultaneously to produce high quality deliverables

  • Ability to learn quickly and apply new knowledge in a fast-paced, business, and technical environment.

  • Demonstrates strong innovation, influencing, negotiating skills, and strategic agility

  • Demonstrates professional maturity, ownership of complex issues, and a strategic vision for the future

  • Prior professional experience with data management and data quality in a cloud environment (AWS).

  • Experience with Agile Development Methodologies and Practices, such as Scaled Agile Framework, a plus.

  • Prior experience with banking/financial services/government systems, a plus.

Additional Requirements:

  • This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of two days per week in office.

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

  • Candidates that live near one of our Reserve Bank locations will be provided some work from home flexibility. Rules for hybrid work arrangements differs from Bank to Bank and should be discussed during the interview process.

  • This position has additional screening requirements due to the information accessed while performing the job. These additional screenings would be initiated at the time of offer acceptance and can take approximately two months to be completed. The screening covers areas such as education/employment verification, criminal history, credit history, and reaches out to your references and people that know you well.
