ABOUT THE ROLE

The Industrial Hygiene Program Manager (IH) will contribute as part of the US Health & Safety Department in support of the company’s Health, Safety & Environmental Management System (HSEMS). The IH will possess a comprehensive understanding of various standards and regulatory guidelines such as OSHA, EPA, ACGIH, ASHRAE, ANSI, NFPA, MSHA, and other industry standards. The IH should be an experienced professional with strong organizational skills and excellent written and verbal communication abilities. This position requires a combination of both on-site and remote work for industrial hygiene activities. The IH will provide exceptional customer service in all interactions with internal and external customers, as well as be an advocate for all matters related to occupational health and industrial hygiene within the company.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Program Development and Implementation: Develop and implement comprehensive Industrial Hygiene and Safety (IH) programs, policies, procedures, and technical basis documents to prevent, correct, or control potential health and safety hazards in the workplace.

  • Assists the HS Head with the development of a comprehensive exposure assessment strategy for US operations in line with the Group Occupational Health Roadmap.

  • Collaborates with site operations leadership and HS staff to schedule and conduct qualitative and quantitative industrial hygiene surveys at Holcim sites.

  • Utilizes accepted industrial hygiene practices, equipment, and analytical methods to collect exposure monitoring data for both physical and chemical hazards at Holcim sites.

  • Completes appropriate documentation (field notes, calibration records, laboratory submittal forms, and reports) related to industrial hygiene surveys.

  • Maintains IH equipment, accessories, and ancillary supplies necessary for conducting industrial hygiene surveys.

  • Responds to specific occupational health and industrial hygiene issues that arise from various stakeholders in a professional and timely manner.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with various levels within the organization regarding industrial hygiene and occupational health and the risks that are potentially present at Holcim sites.

  • Supports the utilization of OH/IH-related database applications and provides training to HS staff on the functionality of these applications.

  • Development of custom reporting to present statistical information and key performance indicators related to occupational health and industrial hygiene for various stakeholders (HS team, line managers, US EXCO, Group).

  • Plan, schedule and conduct both qualitative and quantitative IH surveys for sites across all Holcim in accordance with expectations established by HSMS.

  • Provide detailed, concise, and accurate IH survey reports and associated documentation to appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner.

  • Timely and effective follow up on requests for expertise and service from HS staff and operations.

  • Support the development of IH/OH KPI reporting.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as determined by HS Head US.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Education: Bachelor's degree or 5 years of equivalent experience.

Additional Education Preferred: Master's degree

Field of Study Preferred: Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science or related science

Required Work Experience: 5 years

Required Computer and Software Skills: High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including

Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint) Familiarity with Google Workspace and SAP

Travel Requirements: 50%

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience with industrial hygiene equipment and conducting IH surveys is required.

  • High level of detail orientation

  • Strong organization and time management skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

  • Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
