This role offers a hybrid work arrangement. You will spend three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days (Chicago, IL)

Sargent & Lundy is one of the largest and most experienced power industry engineering and consulting firms. We have a unique and exciting opportunity to join our Consulting group in the role of Electrical Engineering Lead for electric vehicle projects. We are seeking detail-oriented professionals with due diligence and analytics experience in electric vehicle charging infrastructure projects.

This position is being added to support the continued growth of the Sargent & Lundy Consulting group, particularly in the Electric Vehicle (EV) consulting engagements involving fleet electrification, charging infrastructure deployment, and Vehicle-to-Everything services. Our Consulting group works with clients across the United States and in numerous other countries.

This position will require a great deal of face-to-face interaction with EV charging infrastructure developers and owners, as well as lenders and investors, during the execution of consulting services work for the firm. The work environment in our Consulting group is fast-paced, dynamic, and interesting.

This position in Sargent & Lundy’s Consulting group will require you to participate in our EV consulting engagements including due diligence and Independent Engineering assignments for fleet operators, utilities, private equity investors and Department of Energy. Common tasks include:

+ + Perform technology, commercial and strategy due diligence on existing and upcoming EV and other renewable energy technologies.

  • Review technical documents and commercial contracts to provide advisory services.

  • Engage with clients to proactively develop innovative planning and deployment project scopes for emerging EV technologies.

  • Represent client during interaction with project stakeholders such as utilities, EPC contractors, vendors and lenders for requirements & bids reviews and contract negotiations.

Qualifications

We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with understanding of power systems/power electronics

  • 2+ years industry experience in electric vehicle and/or energy storage and/or renewables analytics in an electric utility, project developer, regulatory, or technology company is required. Consulting experience is a plus.

  • Advance knowledge of MS Excel with experience in developing and using techno-economic modeling and analytics tools is required.

  • Knowledge of the evolving landscape for electric vehicles, electric utilities, grid modernization, and regulatory trends is required.

  • Experience using common utility and electrical market data sources and formats, electrical calculations, and financial metrics used in renewable energy project modeling is a plus.

  • Development experience in R is a plus.

  • Knowledge with Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X), Virtual Power Plant, Demand-Response programs and EV charging technologies is a plus.
