ABOUT THE ROLE
The Director of Benefits for North America is responsible for the strategic direction, design, and oversight of all company health and welfare benefit plans to ensure alignment with the company’s objectives, enhance the employee experience, increase engagement, and support the company’s goal of being an employer of choice.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Lead the design and improvement of employee benefits programs, including but not limited to health insurance, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and administration practices.
Drive creative design thinking and identify opportunities for benefits program improvements.
Provide oversight for union-sponsored Multi Employer Pension Plans MEPPs).
Stay current with laws and regulations in the US and Canada (e.g., ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, and other relevant legislation) and ensure that all benefits programs comply with applicable laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
Manage all aspects of relationships with benefits providers such as consultants, insurance companies, retirement plan administrators, wellness program vendors, and other third-party providers.
Develop communication strategies to optimally communicate benefits information to employees, ensuring they understand the value and options available to them.
Lead the employee benefits analysis for acquisition targets and manage acquisition employee benefits integration.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Education: Bachelor's degree
Additional Education Preferred: Master's degree
Field of Study Preferred: Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Required Work Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of progressive North American benefits experience, with a minimum of five years in a leadership role.
Extensive experience managing acquisition due diligence and integration.
Experience effectively working with people throughout an organization, including front-line employees and executives.
Demonstrated experience managing confidential and sensitive information, and properly maintaining this information.
Experience giving and receiving often complex and sensitive information in both verbal and written communications.
Hands-on leader who has a proven ability to prioritize competing responsibilities, clearly communicate expectations, and meet deadlines.
Required Training/Certifications: Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP), are a plus.
Required Computer and Software Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
Additional Requirements:
Thorough knowledge of health, retirement, disability and leave plans, self-insured benefits, and applicable regulations in the U.S. and Canada.
Extensive project management skills to oversee multiple benefit programs simultaneously.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, sense of urgency, attention to detail and accuracy, well-organized and able to prioritize in a fast-paced and high-performing environment.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
