About the Department
The Section of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Chicago is one of the largest subspecialty sections in the Department of Medicine. It is comprised of over 40 full faculty members, 21 fellows, and a professional staff of over 180 full- or part-time employees who are devoted to a mission of excellence in research, patient care and education.
Job Summary
The Clinical Research Coordinator 1 (CRC1) will assist the principal investigator (PI) and research team with hematology/oncology clinical trials, particularly those related to adolescents and young adults with hematologic malignancies. This will primarily consist of screening and enrolling patients for trials, as well as study logistics, randomization, data collection, and data entry into REDCap. Some skills with statistical software are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Screens and enrolls patients.
- Communicates with sickle cell disease clinical team and community partners.
- Coordinates tuberculosis screening for consented patients.
- Leads biweekly study team meetings.
- Collects data electronically and on paper.
- Enters data into REDCap database.
- Coordinates and may participate in quality assurance reviews conducted by study sponsors, federal agencies, or specially designated review groups.
- Analyzes study-related documentation, such as protocol worksheets, procedural manuals, adverse event reports, institutional review board documents, or progress reports.
- Assists with various professional, organizational, and operational tasks under direct supervision.
- Uses knowledge of clinical studies to coordinate the collection of analyzable clinical research data and/or samples.
- Performs other related work as needed.
