Job Description Summary
The Assistant General Counsel, Procurement, will proactively lead and drive improvements for Cushman & Wakefield’s procurement legal operations. This role plays a vital role in driving strategic procurement priorities across the organization and reports to the Associate General Counsel, Procurement.
This position will oversee successful execution of a broad range of mission critical contracts, and lead a team of senior attorneys supporting Cushman’s procurement operations. This role will partner with business leadership across the organization to provide strategic counsel, subject matter expertise, and thought partnership on transactional matters.
Job Description
Essential Job Duties :
Partner cross-functionally with internal business leaders to build and maintain strong collaborative relationships, continually understand business objectives and risk tolerance, develop forward-looking planning protocol, and implement effective legal strategies and processes to meet business needs.
Lead legal strategy and negotiations on deals materially impacting the organization. Provide expert, pragmatic advice to senior leaders and stakeholders on deal structure and legal implications, mitigating contractual risk, resolving issues and delivering sound negotiated contracts for products and services, with heavy focus on technology, IP, data use and protection issues.
Continually assess operations to develop processes, collaborations and tools that increase attorney efficiency and drive ongoing improvements to deliver best in class legal services and mitigate legal risks.
Lead and develop a team of high-performing senior attorneys, establish standards and operational protocol to ensure attorneys are aligned and consistent in delivery of legal services, ensuring access to appropriate resources.
Monitor laws, best practices, business needs, and market norms to advance ongoing improvement of templates and contracting tools.
Manage outside counsel and establish focused, practical project budgets. Lead contract disputes, related settlements, and assist with litigation strategy.
Competencies :
15 years of broad experience handling commercial transactions with significant experience handling technology deals, IP, data use, protection, and privacy issues. Must have prior leadership roles with increasing responsibility. A mix of top firm and in-house experience preferred.
Confident, tenacious leader with experience leading and developing a team of senior attorneys; must have drive to face challenges head on, adapt quickly and solve problems to remove barriers.
Expert in commercial contracting, risk mitigation, the art of negotiation, business engagement, practical issue resolution, and management of data and privacy issues to support contracting standards.
Extensive experience successfully negotiating SaaS, software licenses, cloud services, professional services and other contracts for technology enabled products and services with large, enterprise technology companies.
Executive presence with strong commercial sophistication, business acumen, and the highest levels of legal expertise and integrity to generate and maintain the confidence of legal leadership and business stakeholders.
Innovative, critical thinker with experience developing strategic plans and implementing solutions to continuously improve delivery of legal services.
Skilled written and oral communicator who relays concepts to varying audiences clearly and effectively, has successfully influenced and advised, earned the confidence of internal stakeholders at all levels.
Maintains a deep understanding of business and industry trends to provide steady leadership on strategic contracting decisions from a legal perspective.
Adept advising on issues and regulations impacting technology agreements, IP development, data protection and privacy, including EU regulations, U.S. federal and state requirements, and artificial intelligence.
Juris Doctorate degree
Bar admission in good standing

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.
The compensation for the position is: $189,550.00 - $223,000.00
