Our Chicago branch is looking for a new Area Customs Brokerage Development Manager to join our Customs team.
Your Role
The Area Customs Brokerage Development position will manage the growth of customs services within the assigned area of the United States. The candidate must be a subject matter expert (SME) in the field of USA customs services. The goal of the position is to increase customs market share within the area, thereby exponentially growing all aspects of customs revenue streams. The chosen candidate will be responsible for development of product offerings and drive the customs business unit (BU) with go to market strategic plan for growth. The position will report to the area head of customs services (ZZ) with a heavy dotted line to Regional Head of customs development NAM (RZ-D).
Your Responsibilities
Full time, focused effort on product growth, strategy and development
Manage area (central region) pipeline of all customs related opportunities, ensuring proper allocation of resources
Analyze pipeline data to quickly capitalize on opportunities
Manage / coordinate all area customs tenders
Deliver sales (product awareness) training to increase area sales team BU product knowledge
Travel as required (10-15% domestic) in support of growth objectives aligned with Key Account Managers and BU sales
Develop and deliver client outreach educational content
Develop and deliver internal sales value proposition subject matter
Maintain high level knowledge of both USA and overall global trade policy
Deliver required growth target (customer brokerages)
Your Skills and Experiences
Licensed customs broker (or 5-7 years of experience in customer brokerage)
BS degree preferred not required
5-7+ Years combined customs related operational and client facing experience
Proven sales acumen (customer-facing presentation skills)
Direct experience in working across commercial teams in closing new business (sea, air, road)
Understands retention process and successful execution of on-boarding, QBR processes
Delivering value proposition to both small and medium enterprise opportunities and key account opportunities
Enhance value proposition through internal operational alignment
Understanding of USA CBP, PGA regulatory environment insight
Understanding of global supply chain and related logistics services
Proven interpersonal skills
Ability to influence others
Deliver required financial objectives
Ability to identify and focus upon best opportunities
Forward looking in the promotion of customs brokerage in conjunction with additional KN service offerings
Recognize and promote value through cross selling
Remain current with USA trade policy and client impact
Develop solutions to any disruption created by USA and/or global trade policy
Passion to assist clients through KN value proposition
Growth and business development mindset
Ability to discover opportunity through sales calls and relationship building
