Nexstar Media Group Account Executive in Chicago, Illinois

The Sales Account Executive generates advertising revenue by calling on established agencies and accounts, cold-calling new prospects, and convincing potential clients of the merits of audio and digital advertising.

Additional Job Description:

  • Implements strategies to consistently grow revenue and exceed revenue goals.

  • Develops integrated marketing campaigns using the tools available at WGN Radio and Nexstar Media Group, which include, but are not limited to:

    • Radio Advertising in non-sports programming.
  • Digital Advertising, including but not limited to: OTT, Video, Social, Programmatic, and Email.

  • Select Sports Play-by-Play carried on WGN Radio.

  • Identify, develop, and expand existing clients, new clients & key account relationships.

  • Prepares and delivers sales presentations to clients.

  • Explains to customers how specific types of advertising will help promote products/services in the most effective way.

  • Provides clients with information regarding rates for advertising placement in all media.

  • Develops advertising schedules with clients and station personnel responsible for placing advertising into station media.

  • Works with clients and station personnel to develop advertisements.

  • Establishes credible relationships with the local business community.

  • Willingness to take on additional opportunities and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising or Mass Communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.

  • 2+ years of experience as an Account Executive or in sales, preferably in the media field

  • Experience with key verticals/categories investing in audio and digital.

  • Experience with high-value partnerships including prospecting, negotiating, etc.

  • Experience with digital media and/or extensive agency experience.

  • Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment.

  • Detail oriented and organized.

  • Excellent verbal, written, grammar and analytical skills.

  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
