Chesterfield County Human Resource Management Family Services Specialist - Employment Services Team in Chesterfield, Virginia

What You Do and How You Do it: The Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services is looking for one Family Services Specialists who will interview and evaluate participants in the Virginia Initiative for Education and Work (VIEW), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Education and Training program, as well as other customers interested in employment services. You will perform assessments to screen customers in the areas of employability, education/learning, mental health, substance abuse and medical needs. You will research and coordinate services as needed, monitor and guide service delivery, advocate for customers and locate additional resources. You will monitor, implement, interpret, and apply federal, state and local policies related to the VIEW and SNAP EandT programs. This position requires continual analysis and interpretation of data to assess customers needs to plan and implement a course of action. Perform other work as required.

Heres What You Need: A bachelor's degree in social work or another human services field; two years of social work or human services experience preferred; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in workforce development is preferred. Current valid drivers license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.A Chesterfield County application is also required and must be submitted online by the deadline.

The hiring salary range is $53,668 - $63,061. Work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm.
