The Department of Corrections is seeking a motivated and creative individual with strong leadership skills to join our team as a Corrections Cosmetology Instructor. In this position, you will supervise and instruct inmates in a structured classroom and an on-the-job training program within the cosmetology trade at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Chester. As a Corrections Cosmetology Instructor, you will provide classroom and on-the-job training and instruction to inmates in the standard practices, methods, and techniques of the cosmetology trade. In this position, you will maintain documentation of all inmate trainingprogress, attendance, and assignment details. You will also issue, inventory, and request all materials and supplies used during classroom instruction and work assignments.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 40 hours per week Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $48,425.00 (before taxes). QUALIFICATIONS Special Requirement: You must possess a valid Cosmetology Teacher License issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology.
Other Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
