Kent Denver Country Day School Learning Specialist - Long-Term Coverage For in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado

Kent Denver School is seeking a Learning Specialist to work with students in grades 6-12. This is a long-term coverage position for an employee taking family leave from late January 2025 through May 2025. The learning specialist will work under the supervision of the Director of Wellness and will be a key member of the student wellness team. The ideal applicant for this position will have a master's or doctorate degree in psychology, education, special education, or curriculum and instruction.

Kent Denver's learning specialist is an expert in translating current research in neuroscience into dynamic ways of supporting student learning. Kent Denver School does not offer a special education program, but we welcome a diversity of students with different styles of learning. Additionally, some of our students have diagnosed learning disabilities; among the roles of the Learning Specialist is to develop academic support plans and coordinate accommodations.

Essential job responsibilities include:

Work with parents/guardians to develop accommodation plans for students with diverse learning needs.

Support teachers with implementing student accommodations

Manage and maintain a dedicated separate space room, providing students with a quiet and conducive environment for assessments.

Offer personalized academic coaching sessions to students, providing guidance on study skills, time management, and subject-specific support. Facilitate small group study sessions to encourage collaborative learning and academic success.

Successful candidates will possess the following:

A master's degree in educational psychology, curriculum and instruction, education, special education, or another related field.

Commitment to lifelong professional growth.

A commitment to culturally responsive practices to support the well-being of all students in our community.

Deep knowledge in child and adolescent development and the challenges faced by students in middle and high school.
