Expeditors Configuration Engineer (CI/CD) -IS CIS (Service Provider) in Chennai, India

IS Global Service Center (GSC) operating from Chennai, India, is a part of IS supporting Expeditors IT operations. IS GSC has grown to 380+ employees today delivering world class Information services globally. This Product based Strategic Center's IT transformation has delivered a radical change to Expeditors IT manpower profile and skills over the past three years and will continue to deliver services as we continue to grow responsibly in the coming years.

Our Software Infrastructure group is looking for a Configuration Engineer (Technologist) to join our Development and Deployment team.  As a part of this team, you will have the opportunity to help shape the future of cloud native technologies at Expeditors.

As the configuration engineer, you will empower our development teams to be autonomous, assist in the configuration of applications to ensure stability and performance, and handle communication and scheduling surrounding these systems. You will be innovative and proactive – constantly reviewing our current processes, the needs of our customers, and the performance of the application to continually improve our development and production systems.


  • Strong team player, with natural tendency to communicate with peers to share and gain knowledge

  • Excellent verbal skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to a variety of audiences to drive adoption of new platforms to meet business goals

  • Demonstrate the ability to research and implement solutions to build a highly reliable and scalable Kubernetes platform

  • Desire to introduce tools to facilitate greater automation and operability of platform services

  • Experienced in UNIX/LINUX scripting (PERL, Bash, Python, etc.)

  • Proficient with build and deployment tools such as Chef, Jenkins, or Ansible, or similar

  • Experienced with GitLab and GitLab Runners, Maven and Nexus, Subversions or similar

  • Experienced working in Collaboration tools like Mattermost / Chat Ops


  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems in a technical lead role

  • Experience with working with cloud native applications, container orchestration platforms such as Mirantis / Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher/RKE or Anthos/ Google GKE highly desired

  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly


  • Able to formulate and implement a design strategy from a mix of business requirements, concept documents, and verbal descriptions

  • Experience in Java, Tomcat, Apache/Nginx, Angular, NodeJS/npm,  and related technologies

  • Proficient working with Virtual Machines on premise and in the cloud

  • Familiar with SAFe methodologies

  • Strong grasp of automation tools
