Position Summary:

The Rehabilitation Services Speech-Language Pathologist provides evaluation and treatment of hospital patients in a range of specialty programs.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates competency with individualized assessment of patients using a wide variety of assessment measures and procedures.

  • Formulates individualized, age specific, therapy goals based upon assessment results and patient needs.

  • Implements patient care in a manner consistent with the therapy goals and the changing needs of the patient using a variety of therapeutic approaches.

  • Orients patients and families to the therapeutic purposes and procedures of Speech-Language Pathology, and educates them about home programs, impairments and progress.

  • Provides for own professional growth and education and contributes to staff development activities.

  • Stays up to date on all participating insurance guidelines for rehabilitation services.

  • Provides thorough documentation on each patient interaction. Documentation must be timely and include all pertinent information required by state law, accrediting agencies and 3rd party payers. Completes daily charges for each patient while adhering to ethical practices per insurance guidelines for each payer. Works with site leader, director and/or secretarial staff to ensure schedules are managed well to achieve targeted productivity and clinic budget.

Other Functions and Responsibilities

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience and Certification/Licensure

Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Licensed in the State of Michigan.
