Job Title: Pit Operator II Job Summary The PIT Operator II may operate fork trucks, electric pallet jacks, and other powered industrial trucks to pick orders, load and unload trailers, put away products, transfer products, etc. This position may be responsible for assisting to verify inventory and/or performing cycle counts, etc. Duties and Responsibilities: Loads and unloads incoming and outgoing trucks with the use of fork trucks, electric pallet jacks, and/or other powered industrial trucks. Utilizes glad locks and chock blocks to secure trucks while they are unloaded and/or loaded to prevent early truck departure. Puts away and moves product to and from bins and locations. Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials, and transports load to designated area. Performs routine inspections of powered industrial trucks before and after use; Reports any malfunction, defect, or damages to the Manager; Performs lock out tag out for damaged equipment. May verify inventory on work floor and/or perform cycle counts with other team members. Enforces, and adheres to all safety regulations as required by the position and the companys safety policies. Adheres to all current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) per the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Follows and enforces all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding production processing tasks and protocols. Conducts pre-hire and practice electric pallet jack evaluations; Submits evaluation to Safety to schedule pallet jack training. Monitors inventory by location on work floor to ensure minimal scanning errors; Reports any inventory deviations to Shift Manager; Partners with Warehouse Manager to clear out inventory. Uses hand-held scanners to verify UPC codes and to scan inventory into the correct trailer location. Verifies temperature of trailers with hand-held laser thermometer prior to loading; Completes trailer inspection form and submits document to Quality Assurance; Verifies set point of trailer; Communicates with truck driver if new trailer is needed. Inspects trailers for cleanliness; If debris found, trailer is swept out; Communicates with truck driver if new trailer is needed due to cleanliness. Ensures all actions are taken to prevent food from being contaminated. May monitors staffing level for their specified areas; Reports any deviations to Shift Manager and Agency On-Site Supervision. Performs other related duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: Although this position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, the position works in a collaborative environment and may have to plan and delegate tasks to department personnel. This role has no supervisory responsibilities. Required Skills/Abilities: Ability to use hand-held scanners. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Familiarity with industrial equipment. Excellent hand-eye coordination. Ability to communicate effectively. Strong work ethic and punctuality. Ability to work in a team. Ability to safely use the following equipment: Fork Trucks, Electric Pallet Jacks, Scanners, etc. Knowledge of human and food safety topics. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office. Bilingual preferred. Required Certificates and Licenses: Forklift certification Pallet jack certification Safety procedures and training as applicable to job functions. Education and Experience: 1+ year experience in manufacturing, production, or warehouse environment. High school diploma or G.E.D. degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Work Environment: The production facility and associated warehousing are refrigerated facilities, which means this position must be able to work in a cold, wet, and loud environment for long periods of time with the proper personal protective equipment (PPE). This position requires frequent standing, stooping and/or bending for long periods of time.
