Robert Half Staff Accountant in Chattanooga, Tennessee

Description We are inviting applications for the role of a Staff Accountant located in CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee. This role is within the Government sector and involves tasks such as financial statement preparation, compliance with GAAP and GASB regulations, budgeting, forecasting, grant management, and team leadership.

Responsibilities:

• Preparation and review of financial statements, reports, and reconciliations in adherence with GAAP and GASB regulations.

• Ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.

• Assisting in the development of the annual budget and long-term financial plans.

• Analyzing budget variances and providing actionable insights to management.

• Monitoring and managing grant funding, ensuring accurate accounting and compliance with grant requirements.

• Overseeing the accounts payable and receivable processes and ensuring the timely and accurate processing of transactions.

• Developing, implementing, and monitoring internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.

• Coordinating with external auditors during the annual audit and implementing audit recommendations.

• Supervising and mentoring junior accounting staff and fostering their professional development.

• Maintaining and improving accounting systems and processes to meet the organization’s evolving needs. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Experience with Bank Reconciliations

• Knowledge of General Ledger management

• Ability to prepare and post Journal Entries

• Experience with Month End Close procedures

• Understanding of GAAP Accounting principles

• Familiarity with Internal Control procedures

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

• Proven problem-solving skills

• Authorization to work in the country the job is located.
