Job Summary and Qualifications

The Nurse Manager is responsible for complete oversight of her/his unit. The Manager serves as liaison between staff and administrative personnel. They establish personnel qualification requirements, initiate in-service programs, install record and reporting system, and perform other personnel management tasks.

What you will do in this role:

  • You will help create a superior clinical identity by operationalizing evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes. Ensure adherence to standards of care.

  • You will ensure equipment maintenance is performed regularly and according to regulatory and/or accreditation standards.

  • You will manage nursing practice and unit operations. Monitor and evaluate the provision of nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures to ensure patient and family needs are assessed and met.

  • Your role facilitates effective interdisciplinary care coordination within and across departments. Ensures staff with appropriate clinical competencies are assigned to meet patient care needs.

  • You will manage admissions and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high quality, patient-centered care.

  • You will ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

  • Your role supports the achievement of internal/external benchmarks, accreditations, and designations.

  • You will support efforts to reduce variation in clinical practice and improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost. Ensure a culture of accountability and transparency in the provision of care.

  • You will develop standards and procedures for providing nursing care and for evaluating service. 

  • You will have the opportunity to provide orientation, teaching, and guidance to staff to improve quality patient care. 

  • You will promote strong and effective working relations with other hospital departments.

  • In this role you will recommend the establishment or revision of policies and develop organizational structure and standards of performance. 

  • You will be assisting in the preparation of and oversight of the departmental budget. 

What qualifications you will need:

  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in TN or compact state

  • Associate Degree required; Bachelors Degree preferred

  • At least one year of applicable experience required

  • Experience in a Supervisory or Managerial role preferred

  • Computer Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Specialty certification preferred

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

Parkridge Medical Center is a 270+ bed hospital. We are near downtown Chattanooga. We feature comprehensive diagnostic, medical, and surgical services. These services include cardiovascular surgery and cancer treatment. These services include intensive care, orthopedic and spine surgery, and rehabilitation. The facility includes a state of the art neurosurgery program. Patients also have access to OB-GYN services. Patients have access to a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. They also have access to (NICU) and behavioral health treatment centers for children and adults.
