The Senior Biostatistician for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible designing, planning, and executing biostatistical analysis for research and development (R&D) projects that establish the conditions crucial for determining safety, efficacy, and marketability of in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) products. The Senior Biostatistician develops and/or applies statistical theories, methods, and software. Collaborates in the production of the study protocols, and the collection, management and/or reporting of data. Develops automated data analysis reports. Develops and employs computational tools to analyze biological data.

This position is part of the Clinical Chemistry and Immunoassay (CCIA) organization located in Chaska, MN and will be on-site. At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.

You will be a part of the Bioinformatics/Biostatistics team and report to the Director, Bioinformatics/Biostatistics responsible for leading the bioinformatics/biostatistics team working on global projects for the CCIA organization. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Perform statistical analysis and prepare summaries of analytical data for use by regulatory agencies or project teams in order to evaluate the performance of new and improved products

  • Assist in identification of aspects of experimental design that will measure the efficiency and utility of the clinical chemistry and immunoassay products or processes being investigated

  • Design and analyze studies for product characterization in feasibility and test method validation to support product design transfer from R&D to manufacturing

  • Write documented and validated statistical programs for analysis and reporting

  • Stay current on changes, innovations, and trends in statistics, medicine, and industry best practice through networking, studying publications and/or presentations

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, or Bioinformatics with 5+ years of experience OR Master’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics or Bioinformatics with 3+ years of experience OR Doctoral degree in Statistics, Biostatistics or Bioinformatics with 0+ years of experience

  • Proficiency with R software

  • Collaboration with multiple functions across geographies

  • Specific expertise in regression analysis, mixed models/variance component estimation, Design of Experiments (DOE), and sample size calculations

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Bootstrap and Monte Carlo simulation techniques

  • JMP, SAS, Minitab, and Excel software

  • Relational database development, including SQL and Oracle
