University of Virginia Sterile Processing Clinic Coordinator in Charlottesville, Virginia

Performs a variety of administrative functions for the Sterile Processing department. Responsible for workflow supervision of all activities related to Decontamination, Packaging, Sterilization, Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement in compliance with the departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Adheres to best practice by following all regulatory, federal, and state recommended practices and guidelines as stated by (but not limited to) AAMI (Association of Advancement of Medical Instrumentation), AORN (Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses), The JC (Joint Commission), CMS (Centers of Medicaid & Medicare), APIC (Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology), and SGNA (Society Gastrointestinal Nurses Association).

  • Collaborates with the leadership team and clinic leadership to identify and resolve unit issues.

  • Keeps leadership team and clinic leaders informed of any updates/issues.

  • Follows written instructions as needed.

  • Complies with established departmental and organization policies/guidelines.

  • Maintains, operates, and monitors all equipment according to manufacturer's recommendations and department standards.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of instrumentation and sterile/aseptic technique.

  • Ensures that clinic staff are competent in the precleaning process

  • Completes monthly rounding on every UVA clinic

  • Assist clinics in following all regulatory, federal, and state recommended practices and guidelines

  • Assist clinics in ordering new instruments

Position Compensation Range: $17.31 - $26.83 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent

Experience: 3 years’ experience working within sterile processing preferred

Licensure: Certification as CRCST (Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician) through HSPA required. Certification as CIS (Certified Instrument Specialist) through HSPA preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires sitting/standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling and reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 – 100lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, vibrations, heat, noise, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
