University of Virginia Oncology Access Associate in Charlottesville, Virginia

This patient focused role is responsible and accountable for various aspects of the patient access experience including but not limited to basic appointment scheduling demographic and insurance data collection cash collections and addressing the various needs of the patient and family either in person or on the phone; Provides patients with tools both in paper and electronic format which are needed by the clinical and revenue cycle teams to ensure their experience at UVA is optimal; engages the patient/family in keeping them updated on various aspects of their visit.

  • Full time remote Contact (Call) Center

  • The Contact Center employee will provide first point of contact for our oncology patients.

  • The role will focus on answering incoming calls directed to the Cancer Center throughout the shift.

  • Answer high volume incoming phone calls from patients, forwarding calls to appropriate staff or taking messages as well as responding to patient inquiries.

  • Resolving patient concerns with empathy and professionalism.

  • Some simple scheduling may be produced during the course of the shift.

  • Schedules appointments to the correct provider including all appropriate information and coordinates appointments on the same day when available.

  • Educates patients, parents, guardians or appropriate designee on managed care process and communicates authorizations if needed and reviews potential financial obligations when appropriate.

  • Advocates for patients and/or families while coordinating multi-visit scheduling appointments.

  • Provides exceptional customer service while assisting customers in obtaining access to Medical Services at UVA Health System.

  • Documents each request completely and accurately.

  • Investigates, documents and resolves or refers as appropriate problems and conflicts.

Position Compensation Range: $15.68 - $24.30 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.

Experience: No experience required.

Licensure: None required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires sitting for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive) and repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs.
