6North is a 12 bed unit utilizing critical care and neuroscience principles at the Intermediate level. Common patient populations include patients transferring from the Neuro ICU. This unit takes care of patients who have experienced neuro trauma, subarachnoid, intraventricular or, intracerebral hemorrhage, ENT patients with cancer who have had a tumor resection and flap reconstruction, post-operative spine patients and a wide range of neurological problems. . This unit receives direct admissions and transfers from the acute care units for closer monitoring. The NIMU nurse uses physical assessment skills, monitors ICPs, and treats B/P with IV medications. Patients who require mechanical ventilation or pressors for support are transferred to the ICU. The NIMU nurse is supported by a MET team (medical emergency Team), BERT (behavioral response Team), Nurse practitioners 7 days a week during the day and house staff at night. Apply TODAY!

SHIFT: ROTATING
Performs a variety of patient care and administrative support functions under the supervision of Medical Center professionals in an inpatient or outpatient setting or in a patient’s home.
Assists patients with personal care as needed for optimal recovery during hospitalization.
Performs basic nursing skills as delegated by an RN and in accordance with policy and procedure to promote patient health and wellness.
Provides for a safe environment and safe delivery of care.
Performs administrative support functions.
Maintains necessary skills and competencies.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Position Compensation Range: $15.37 - $23.82 Hourly
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.
Experience: No experience required. Relevant experience preferred.
Licensure: Certified Nursing Aide certification (CNA) through the Virginia Board of Nursing. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires frequently bending/stooping and driving (Home Health Aide only). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 – 50lbs and > 100lbs (Home Health Aide only). May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
