Wells Fargo TRIG Business Accountability Specialist in CHARLOTTE, North Carolina

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Business Accountability Specialist to support Transactional Risk and Intelligence Group (TRIG) in performing transaction-based reviews of customers with elevated and complex risk profiles to generate actionable recommendations to line of business risk management teams.

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct analysis on customer transactions and demographics to identify customers presenting a heightened risk based on transactional behavior, product use, industry and customer comparisons. This includes conducting research on complex customers and assessing exposure to emerging risks and typologies.

  • Write bolstered observations and risk dispositions that help business partners better understand customers' behavior and manage the risk.

  • Work with 1,000s of rows and cells of data in Microsoft Excel to perform the analysis on datapoints ranging from geography to transactional values and volumes to relational data.

  • Evaluate ML/TF and operational risks present in the reviews to determine required level of escalation and ultimate recommendation, in consultation with manager/reviewer

  • Communicate findings and provides appropriate direction to manager /reviewer and Wells Fargo Businesses

  • Participate in moderately complex project initiatives

  • Provide incremental enhancements to existing ML/TF typologies based upon observations from daily work

  • Review Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) history to help drive appropriate risk recommendations

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of risk management, business controls, business operations, compliance, or process experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of transactional products (wires, ACH, check, cash vault, etc.)

  • Knowledge of BSA/AML programs including KYC, CDD, EDD, CIP and / or other related risk and regulatory disciplines

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate risks and to communicate relevant risk in a simple, decisive, timely and market-appropriate manner

  • Critical thinker with a risk control mindset

  • Attention to detail

  • Proactive approach to solving problems

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and writing skills

  • Strong decision-making, organizational and planning skills

  • Experience in AML and/or Fraud investigations

  • Experience filing and/or reviewing SARs

  • Excel and PowerPoint experience including the ability to manage extremely large and complex sets of transactional data

  • Industry certifications (e.g. CAMS certified and/or Wells Fargo AML/Sanctions Credential Program, etc.)

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Knowledge of Wells Fargo systems (WCIS, Cornerstone, Hogan, OIB, IIS, UAR Portal, etc.) and products (wires, ACH, check products, cash vault, etc.).

Job Expectations:

  • Completely and accurately execute TRIG processes and procedures.

  • Develop and implement review strategies and techniques that clearly and rationally target risks or typologies.

  • Conduct research and analysis and identify clients posing elevated risk for escalation.

  • File unusual activity reports in a timely manner.

  • Document and communicate review results and recommendations.

  • Maintain organized and detailed documentation of review results or recommendations.

  • Coordinate with Transactional Risk and Intelligence Group (TRIG) leadership to achieve process improvements.

  • Training will be hands on for roughly 2 weeks in person with current team members

Hours and Location:

  • Locations: Charlotte, NC & Minneapolis, MN

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM, Hybrid

  • Candidate must reside within a commutable distance to the address listed in the posting

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$63,600.00 - $113,000.00
