Robert Half Tax Manager - Public in Charlotte, North Carolina

Description We are seeking a Tax Manager in the public sector to join our team based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The chosen candidate will play a key role in managing and coordinating tax audits, preparing complex tax returns, and advising on tax-related issues. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with a solid foundation in tax management and a strong understanding of auditing and corporate income tax.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage multiple tax audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

• Prepare and review complex tax returns, including corporate and individual tax returns.

• Provide tax planning and consulting to management, and other departments within the organization.

• Use in-depth knowledge of indirect tax to advise on tax-related matters and strategic decisions.

• Maintain updated knowledge of tax laws and regulations, and ensure the organization's tax policies and procedures are in line with these.

• Collaborate with the auditing team to ensure all financial operations align with current tax laws.

• Develop and implement effective strategies to optimize the organization's tax obligations.

• Monitor changes in tax legislation that could impact the organization's tax liabilities.

• Leverage CPA skills to provide expert financial advice to the organization.

• Manage the organization's tax reporting process and ensure timely and accurate submissions. Requirements • Possession of a CPA license is required.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a public tax manager role.

• Proven expertise in auditing is essential.

• Demonstrated ability in handling complex tax returns.

• Experience with corporate income tax and corporate tax returns is necessary.

• Proficiency in dealing with indirect tax matters.

• Experience in managing individual tax returns.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

• Proficiency in using tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Strong understanding of tax code, compliance and procedures for corporations.

• Familiarity with tax consulting and planning.

• Excellent leadership and team management skills.

• High attention to detail and accuracy.

• Strong negotiation and client management skills.
