This position involves supporting the day-to-day implementation, operations, and enhancement/management of IBMi workloads within our enterprise environment. The IBMi Technologist will be responsible for learning, developing, and maintaining system integrations/transitions, security, user management, helpdesk ticket management, and troubleshooting in a multi data center environment.


• Experience with IBM i / iSeries design, creation, execution of custom CL scripts for automation as/where needed

• Administration of environment components including security controls, TCP/IP, BRMS, Job control, performance and capacity planning, system updates, and license management

• Maintain system High Availability/Disaster Recovery readiness which includes but not limited to IBM PowerHA, IBM Flash Copy and Global Mirror

• Experience with managing external storage appliances, I.E. IBM Flash Storage

• VIOS management and configuration

• Perform platform-specific technical tasks including operating system upgrades, installation and configuration of various software packages, installation of patches and fixes (PTFs)

• Perform problem analysis, documentation, root-cause analysis, and create incident reports for complex system environments

• Maintain documentation of system and application monitoring, scheduling packages, and tape management systems

• Operation of tape management solutions, including physical and virtual tape libraries (ProtecTIER)

• Maintain and develop security solutions, application systems, authentication and directory services to ensure the security of servers and confidential data.

• Ability to participate in after-hours escalations and 24x7 on call as scheduled

• Adhere to company and IT policies


• 5+ years of experience in IBM i administration, including troubleshooting and maintenance of environments running the IBM i operating systems on Power-based hardware

• Privileged Access Remediation, Object Level Security, IFS Security, Group Profiles, Authorization Lists, Security System Values

• Hardware management console and LPAR configuration.

• Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

• ACS and JDE World ERP system

• Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills desired

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or 5+ years of related work experience.

• Understanding of Data Center Operations and Infrastructure Design desired
