Wells Fargo Senior Securities Operations Specialist - Fiduciary Tax Analyst in CHARLOTTE, North Carolina

This tax technical Senior Specialist will support Fiduciary Tax Services as an individual contributor to ensure consistent and controlled oversight and review of the preparation of fiduciary income tax returns, charitable tax returns, transfer tax returns, and tax information reporting returns. The Senior Specialist will also serve as the point of contact for our primary tax vendor, PricewaterhouseCoopers, our administrative and investment partners in Banking Lending and Trust, and outside accountants.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead or participate in moderately complex lifecycle initiatives and support tasks related to fiduciary, charitable, estate, gift, and inheritance tax requirements and tax return preparation

  • Maintain databases which track the preparation of tax and information returns, receipt, and disposition of tax notices from federal and state taxing authorities, and confirmation and receipt of fiduciary tax refunds

  • Independently resolve moderately complex issues and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control development

  • Collaborate and facilitate coordination with trust and estate administrative officers, mid-level trust and trust directors to resolve issues and achieve goals

  • Manage expertise in the following operational processes including reviewing and/or validating Forms W-8 and W-9 for withholding tax purposes

  • Resolve moderately complex escalated issues with internal and external accountants and clients to complete the tax compliance process

  • Research moderately complex business risks, influence policies, enhance customer satisfaction, and review time sensitive documents and transaction requests

  • Exercise independent judgment while developing the knowledge to understand function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements

  • Contribute to overall effectiveness of the team and collaborate with colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Securities Operations experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of fiduciary, charitable, and information tax return reporting and preparation experience

  • 2+ years of Operational Risk and Control Management experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of estate, gift, and Generation-Skipping Transfer Tax (GSTT)

  • Understanding of US state trust taxation issues for a national financial institution and exposure to SEI Trust 3000

  • Effective problem solving, decision-making, organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills

  • Ability to work independently, proactively, innovatively and creatively while expressing sound judgement

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills with a high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or Enrolled Agent or equivalent certification

  • A BS/BA degree or higher in accounting, finance, or other business related field

  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$73,100.00 - $129,900.00
