The Chief Operating Office (COO) is responsible for delivering a more consistent approach to business operations across Wells Fargo, strengthening the company’s risk and control infrastructure, and delivering effective and efficient enterprise services to employees and customers.
The COO group includes the head of Operations, who is jointly responsible for line of business operations with each of the five LOB CEOs. Operations functions include contact center operations, client servicing support, money movements within our businesses, lending operations, and other functions.
The COO group also includes a number of teams dedicated to strengthening Wells Fargo’s risk and control infrastructure. These include the Control Executive team; Regulatory and Policy Affairs; Enterprise Customer Excellence; Sales Practices Oversight and Management; and Strategic Execution and Operations.
The Chief Administrative Office, encompassing the Corporate Properties Group; Corporate Security; Enterprise Business Resiliency; Strategic Programs and Process Improvement; Enterprise Change Management; Supply Chain Management; and Data Management and Insights, delivers important services for our employees and customers.
The Enterprise Change Management department is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive, enterprise-wide change management methodology to address how the company prioritizes, introduces, and manages change. This integrated approach addresses key processes, systems, tools, risk management controls, and human capital disciplines to facilitate change throughout the company.
The Portfolio Delivery Lead (PDL) will be accountable for the execution of a portfolio of programs by building partnerships with senior leaders and their teams and ensuring professional execution of change in alignment with policy. The PDL role must understand strategic plans, regulatory and compliance requirements and implications and be able to partner with sponsors and stakeholders to develop and execute change in both waterfall and agile models.
Playing a senior role, the PDL is accountable for leading teams to successfully execute all activities in a program or product life-cycle (initiation, planning, executing, controlling, and closing) and will need to both play and coach their teams in non-traditional project roles such as business case development, capacity planning and requirements documentation. They must also manage all aspects of the portfolio’s budget and ensure strong financial control over the programs for which they are responsible. Effective talent management is also a key aspect of the role and the ability to grow a team’s skills and capabilities is critical.

10+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: project management, project delivery, project methodologies, digital product/program management, strategic planning or implementation
5+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: managing program managers, portfolio management or process management
7+ years of staff management experience
Project Management Institute Certification (PMI)
Experience with Waterfall and Agile project methodologies
Knowledge and understanding of Six Sigma methodology
Knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies: process improvements, continuous improvement, or LEAN
Senior level leadership experience managing a complex organization including senior managers, managers, individual contributors and vendor resources across multiple global locations
Ability to manage in a matrixed organization environment
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important
Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills with ability to turn findings into strategic imperatives
Other Desired Qualifications
Leadership skills and experience managing a highly complex, multi-million dollar portfolio comprised of large programs and projects executing transformational initiatives
Demonstrated experience with agile change delivery processes
Prior working experience with digital initiatives including user experience design principles
Demonstrated success managing a team through organizational, transformational and cultural change
Experience with program management software (e.g. Clarity, HP PPM, ServiceNow or equivalent)
Experience with the agile toolset including Jira and Confluence
Experienced in the creation of business cases, prioritization of initiatives, assigning work, execution, management and resolution of risks and issues while ensuring initiative(s) are delivered within agreed timelines
Experience presenting to executive management and ability to articulate key messages around progress, risk, issues, customer impacts, etc.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
