Manages staff appraisers, MD analyst, independent appraisers, and/or Direct Auto Program/Direct Repair Program, maintains technical proficiency in an assigned territory, which may include multiple states. Identifies opportunities for enhanced efficiencies, and ensures adherence to Company guidelines. Responsible for recommendation, implementation and maintenance of programs to ensure optimum performance.
Extends settlement authority to those assigned to the unit using company guidelines.
Reviews and approves payment of all expense bills and payments which exceed authority levels of direct report, within the position's authority and responsibility.
Participates in the preparation and evaluation of property staff and independent adjusters work within the scope of assigned responsibilities, providing required opinions and recommendations to management as appropriate.
Completes performance evaluations, salary recommendations and proper disciplinary evaluations, in a timely manner as per company policy.
Ensures that qualified staff is maintained and that employees are trained in and follow company procedures, guidelines and policies.
Ensures that the proper records and reports are produced and maintained and that quality control measurements are in place.
Ensures that training programs are carried out both in accordance with company guidelines and to ensure training and cross training of staff.
Direct supervision of employees assigned to the unit. Indirect supervision of independent appraisers.
3+ years experience with automobile physical damage estimating and/or repair and experience with total loss evaluation and salvage handling. Prior supervisor or management experience preferred.
Good analytical skills necessary to evaluate production staffing requirements, and to problem solve and make decisions. Familiarity with computer estimating system(s) and auto construction and repair techniques.
Must apply for and maintain all applicable licenses required by the state to which the individual is assigned.
May need to travel on short notice.
Heavy work loads, subject to deadlines, constant interruptions.
Position requires the ability to work in potentially adverse weather conditions and the ability to view all parts of a vehicle including the interior and undercarriage.
