Job Summary

The Lead Logistics Associate facilitates the direction of work and disseminates tasks from Fleet Managers at the HUB location. At the direction of management, coordinates the HUB trucking routes while meeting customer scheduling needs. Prepares the day-to-day operations of the HUB and dispatching of Fleet Drivers. Utilizes the latest company provided routing software to establish daily trucking routes to provide exceptional customer service. Provides daily guidance on territory lanes to Fleet Drivers and Third-Party Lane drivers.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop delivery routes and maintain contact with drivers throughout the day

• Collaborate with management to modify daily routes to accommodate the needs of customers

• Act as a communication liaison by answering incoming phone calls from drivers on the road

• Establish strong relationships with Fleet Drivers and customers and provide support for vehicle delivery schedule changes Monitor route changes or road construction issues and guide Fleet Drivers to establish new routes for timely deliveries

• At the direction of the Fleet Manager, creates load planning, completes daily inventory reconciliation and staging of vehicles

• Develop delivery routes and maintain contact with Fleet Drivers daily

• Collaborate with management to modify daily routes to accommodate the needs of customers

• Understand and adhere to company policies and procedures, including DOT regulations.

• Maintain product and company knowledge (i.e., CarMax products, transportation and dispatching software)

• Evaluate delivery timeframes and acceptable timelines for dispatching

• Perform above functions under limited supervision and within department expectations/metrics.

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Ability to work in a team environment in high pressure situations

• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential

• Strong ability to evaluate delivery timeframes and acceptable timelines for dispatching

• Make decisions using independent and sound judgment

• Resolves internal customer and Fleet Driver dispatching opportunities

• Read, interpret and transcribe data and maintain accurate records

• Speak and actively listen with Fleet Drivers and CarMax mangers by phone.

• Complete CarMax provided training on the functional areas of the Fleet Department

• Assist and support the Regional Logistics Manger during the rollout of a new transportation programs

• Ability to effectively communicate via email to include reading and professionally responding in writing.

• Ability to review data and reporting to identify problems and use sound judgment in resolving or escalating as needed.

• Ability and desire to work in a strong team based environment.

• Complete CarMax provided training as required.

• Understand and adhere to company policies and procedures

• Basic computer knowledge and typing skills.

• Ability to comprehend and apply basic math skills.

• Apply a common sense approach to carry out written or verbal instructions, and the ability to deal with problems involving variables where limited standardization exists.Make decisions using independent and sound judgment

Working Conditions

• Wear CarMax clothing (acquired through the company) at all times while on duty.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (products weighing more than 50 lbs. may be handled by more than one person and/or with mechanical assistance).

• Flexible work hours with shifts that may include nights, weekends and holidays.

• Ability to work in both an office and outdoor environment; this may include working in noisy and/or inclement weather conditions at times

• Multi-task in a high energy, fast-pace work environment
