Job Summary
The Laboratory Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of regulatory compliance needs (COLA, JCAHO, CLIA) for waived and non-waived laboratory testing within NHMG Physician Office labs. Participates in problem solving, training, competency documentation. Acts as a liaison between reference labs, internal billing/coding and compliance to address billing/coding issues. Participates in quality assurance activities and monitors quality controls. Serves as a resource for NMG physician offices.

Qualifications
Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. Bachelor’s degree in science related field from a recognized college or university, required. Graduate Degree, preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years experience in a Clinical Laboratory Experience with laboratory chemistry or hematology instruments. Experience with laboratory regulatory requirements. Required.
Experience in the physician office practice setting, preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Medical Technologist, OR Clinical Medical Laboratory Science with Cert by ASCP, OR equivalent and valid driver's license; required.
Additional Skills Required: The ability to work and make decisions independently. Thorough ability to communicate effectively and professionally. Ability to prioritize and manage several job functions at one time. Ability to work efficiently and accurately. Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills. Excellent customer service skills. Able to positively communicate in every arena. Ability to operate equipment at both sitting levels and/or standing levels. Effective communication skills - listening, writing, talking, and reading. Ability to communicate via telephone, Lab Information System, practice management system, EHR and verbally. Computer knowledge with emphasis on creating graphs, crunching numbers and PowerPoint presentations. Capable of working directly with nursing personnel or other clinic staff and patients. Experienced in writing policies, procedures and criterion checklists for all new POL instruments and kit tests. Flexibility and adaptability to work additional hours or shifts. Work effectively under stress. Must posses knowledge of the regulatory and accreditation agencies' standards. Must possess knowledge and skills necessary to modify care according to patient(s)' .
