Pike Corporation IT Security Engineer in Charlotte, North Carolina

Position Summary: The Security Engineer is responsible for contributing to the planning and implementation of the overall information security strategy. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in cybersecurity, demonstrating a strong background in implementing technology solutions that protect the enterprise. This role requires a proactive individual who can anticipate and mitigate security threats, ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our data and infrastructure.

Essential Functions:

  • Implement and manage security solutions, including PAM, EDR, WAF, and automation tools, to protect systems and data.

  • Develop and enforce security policies and procedures in line with best practices and compliance requirements.

  • Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and mitigate risks.

  • Assist with incident response activities, including investigation, documentation, and coordination with relevant stakeholders.

  • Automate security processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness of security operations.

  • Collaborate with IT and development teams to integrate security measures into existing and new infrastructure.

  • Provide training and guidance to staff on cybersecurity best practices and awareness.

  • Stay abreast of the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies to continuously improve our security posture.

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field.

  • 3 + years’ experience in a security focused role.

  • At least 1 security focused certification such as Security+, AZ-500, CySA, etc.

  • Basic coding skills, such as Python, PowerShell and other languages.

  • Experience managing firewalls, IDS, IPS, and network security solutions.

  • 2+ years of experience working with an AV/EDR solution (eg: SentinelOne, Crowdstrike)

  • 2+ years of experience working with a PAM solution (eg: CyberArk, Delinea)

  • 2+ years of experience administering and securing cloud environments.

  • 2+ years of experience administering email security tools (eg: ProofPoint, Mimecast)

  • Basic experience with incident response concepts and forensics collection.

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity trends and hacking techniques.

  • Able to respond to Security issues after hours when necessary.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant certifications (e.g. Security+, AZ-500, CySA, PNPT) are highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with SOC2, risk assessments, and other GRC functions.

  • Continuous growth and learning.

  • Strong willingness to create and modify documentation of key security practices.

  • Strong understanding of network security, protocols, and encryption technologies.

  • Experience with cybersecurity frameworks and standards such as NIST and CIS.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey security risks and strategies to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
