Internship Overview:

Step into the future with Duke Energy’s Innovation and Communications Summer Internship, where you'll be part of the dynamic Digital Transformation team. This team leverages digital and innovation capabilities to revolutionize our operations. Experience the thrill of a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and high-performing environment while working alongside experts in the digital transformation field for a summer internship that offers opportunities to grow academically and professionally.

What You’ll Do:

  • Innovation Projects: Collaborate on cutting-edge projects that solve complex business and technical challenges, driving forward our innovation agenda

  • Change Management: Support initiatives aimed at transforming company operations, learning the layers of managing change while focusing on people

  • Product Development: Participate in the creation, development and refinement of new digital products and services that enhance our operational efficiency, create value and customer satisfaction

  • Strategic Communication: Support development and execution of communication strategies to effectively share our innovative products with internal and external clients, including event design, planning and execution

  • Content Creation: Create engaging content for various digital platforms, including social media, blogs, and internal newsletters, showcasing our digital advancements and successes

  • Networking and Shadowing: Network with fellow interns, shadow roles across departments, and interact with senior-level employees to gain a comprehensive understanding of Duke Energy's innovative talent operations

Basic/Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree as a rising senior or graduate student in Psychology, Communications, Marketing, Cognitive Science, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Design, or related field

  • Must not graduate prior to August 2025

  • Valid driver’s license

Desired Qualifications:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Exposure to or familiarity with areas such as product management, change management, marketing/communications or design thinking

  • Leadership potential or skills displayed through extracurricular activities (e.g., sports, community service, clubs, and academic organizations)

  • Willingness to take on a variety of different tasks

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Previous software, change, design, product internship or business experience

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting

  • Self-driven, motivated, and proactive

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid mobility classification - work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations. In office 2-3 days per week.

  • Housing stipend available when applicable

  • Many of our opportunities require a 40-hour work week.

  • Internship summer session length is 10-12 weeks
