Job Summary

In this new role, the ESG Finance Analyst will support Albemarle’s compliance with upcoming regulatory requirements including SEC climate rule standards, California Climate Bille, and the European Standards (CSRD). The scope will include interpreting requirements under the new guidelines, design and documentation of policies and procedures, control design and implementation, and implementing automated solutions to optimize reporting. This role will report to the ESG Controller and will work closely with the Accounting and Finance team, the Corporate Sustainability team, and the Internal and External Audit teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Sustainability team on the governance, reporting, and disclosure of ESG data

  • Design and implement new accounting policies, standards, and SOX controls to comply with SEC climate related guidance and EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)

  • Monitor ESG/sustainability related global regulatory requirements regarding financial reporting, including SEC, global regulators and NGO reporting requirements.

  • Stay well-informed and monitor industry, regulatory, and publication updates to ensure compliance with reporting requirements

  • Document technical research and interpretations to ensure compliance with regulatory financial reporting requirements

  • Coordinate directly with audit management and staff

  • Perform various monthly ESG monitoring activities

Required Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience with Accounting; sustainability experience is a plus

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field

  • High energy, results-oriented, self-starter with excellent time and project management skills

  • Proven ability to structure and conduct qualitative and quantitative research and analysis

  • Excellent problem solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy

  • Experience in process optimization and continuous improvement methodologies

  • Highest standards of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to think creatively, highly driven and self-motivated

  • Advanced Excel skills utilizing pivot tables, v-lookups, graphs, charts, etc.; other computer skills at intermediate level (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams)

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills

  • Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive data appropriately

  • Clear understanding and adherence to ethical principles and company values

  • Experience with financial controls and compliance with laws and policies, culture, and code of conduct

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP, Enablon, and AuditBoard

  • Strong PowerBI skills

  • Certified Public Accountant license

  • CPA firm experience
