What you can expect in this role

As a Spectrum Intern, you’ll be essential to two teams — your respective department and your Intern peer group. Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. You’ll spend the other 20% on professional development sessions and networking activities, including the Kickoff Conference on May 28, webinars, community service, cross-functional project, and final presentations.

Role Overview: As an intern in Conversational AI and Hyper Automation for Customer Experience Design and Development, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing customer interactions through innovative AI solutions.

This position offers hands-on experience in designing, developing, and deploying conversational AI and automation technologies that improve customer engagement and operational efficiency.

Internship responsibilities may include:

  • Assist in Use Case Definition: Collaborate with senior team members to identify and define use cases for conversational AI and hyper automation. Analyze customer pain points and opportunities for automation to enhance the customer experience.

  • Conversational AI Development: Participate in the design and development of conversational AI bots and virtual assistants. Develop and train Natural Language Processing (NLP) models to understand and respond to customer queries effectively. Implement and test conversational flows to ensure seamless user interactions.

  • Automation Solutions: Assist in the development and implementation of automation scripts and workflows to streamline customer service processes. Work with RPA (Robotic Process Automation) tools to automate repetitive tasks and improve efficiency.

  • Customer Experience Design: Collaborate with UX/UI designers to create intuitive and engaging user experiences for conversational interfaces. Conduct usability testing and gather feedback to iterate and improve the design of AI-powered solutions.

  • Integration and Deployment: Support the integration of conversational AI solutions with existing customer service platforms and CRM systems. Assist in the deployment and monitoring of AI and automation solutions to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect and analyze data on customer interactions and automation performance.Generate reports and provide insights to improve the effectiveness of conversational AI and automation initiatives.

  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain comprehensive documentation of use cases, development processes, and deployment procedures. Share knowledge and insights with the team to foster a collaborative learning environment.

Here’s what it takes to get started

Required qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited College or University graduating with a bachelor’s degree between December 2025 - May 2026

  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA or greater in current program

  • Ability to travel locally to Spectrum Intern development events and activities throughout the program

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for Charter Sponsorship

Preferred qualifications

  • Object-oriented programming, Java / Go/ Scala, JavaScript

  • Basic understanding of AI, NLP, and machine learning concepts

  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java

  • Experience with conversational AI platforms (e.g., Kore.ai, Dialogflow, Microsoft Bot Framework) and RPA tools is a plus

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

  • Passion for enhancing customer experiences through innovative technology solutions

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Oral and written skills

  • Organizational skills

  • Problem solving abilities

  • Proficient in Software including Adobe, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word
