Responsible for Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) general ledger accounting environments. This includes cash management, payables management, affiliate intercompany reconciliation, journal entry processing, account analysis, financial statement preparation, review of budget variances, and annual financial audit support .Responsible for journal entry processing, account analysis, statement preparation and review of budget variances.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assists in preparation of BILHPN's financial statements on a monthly basis. These financial statements are as follows: Balance Sheet, Statement of Operations, Accounts Receivable Statement, Cash Forecast, Variance Analysis, and Account Analysis.

  • Prepares journal entries and accruals to make BIDHC's General Ledger reflect annual operations in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Reviews journal entries prepared by the staff accountants.

  • During the year-end external audit, functions as a resource and prepares detailed analysis and supporting schedules used by external auditors. Reviews audit schedules prepared by the staff accountants to comply with reporting requirements of the Audit Committee.

  • Prepares and reviews all general ledger entries related to physician compensation. Works with the CFO, Accounting Manager and financial analysts to resolve any issues.

  • Investigates variances from budget on all operating accounts. Contacts all levels of BIDHC management to obtain information or clarification on reasons for variances. Performs detailed analysis of activity in various General Ledger accounts including bank accounts, accounts receivable aged trial balances and intercompany accounts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • 3-5 years related work experience required.

  • Two years of accounting experience in healthcare or a medical center.

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.

  • Team Work: Ability to act as a team leader for small projects or work groups, creating a collaborative and respectful team environment and improving workflows. Results may impact the operations of one or more departments.

  • Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Physical Nature of the Job:

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally in carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling objects. Sitting most of the time, with walking and standing required only occasionally
