Job Summary : The primary responsibility of the clinical/outreach athletic trainer is to be an active part of a community-wide Sports Medicine Program. This position will provide day-today athletic training services for a local high school athletic program as well as spend 2-3 days per week in the clinical setting. The clinical/outreach athletic trainer provides athletic training services on an ongoing basis. The Athletic Trainer has the added responsibility of working daily in the athletic training room of a local school with which the clinic has a current contract for medical coverage. The certified athletic trainer is charged with managing the health care of participating athletes. This includes, but is not limited to, first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, appropriate modalities, prevention and rehabilitation programs and medical referrals. Coverage may be given at high schools, colleges or local community recreational events. As in any athletic training room, this position is the primary and often sole caregiver and works under the supervision of a team physician.

Minimum Qualifications :

Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited professional athletic training education program.

Experience: 1 year experience as an Athletic Trainer or medical office setting (experience may include internship as part of clinical education program, may include unpaid experience). Previous clinic/outreach experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification: SC State Certification from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control and National Certification from Board of Certification, Inc. (BOC) must be obtained prior to date of hire. Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card. Valid SC Drivers license required to travel to local schools and athletic events if position is located in Sports Medicine dept and participates in community outreach.

Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of all Athletic Training Domains from education program and NATABOC exam. Interpersonal skills required to work effectively with players, coaches and other team personnel.
