Chapel Hill Tire Accounting Supervisor in Chapel Hill, North Carolina
The main priority of Accounting Supervisor is to enhance the level of service the accounting function provides by delivering timely and error-free support, enabling the Controller to provide greater financial planning and analysis for the business. The Accounting Supervisor will manage and oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of our automotive business. This role is responsible for coordinating and supervising the accounting team, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and improving operational efficiencies. This role handles a variety of accounting duties, including payroll processing, financial reconciliations, and month-end closings, while supporting company initiatives and collaborating with other departments to achieve organizational goals. The position requires a commitment to learning and a willingness to grow, as well as integrity, confidentiality, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, dependability, initiative, and a commitment to embrace company values. It is crucial to be deadline driven and a self-starter that is able be able to work with limited day to day supervision.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Provides timely and high quality administrative and accounting support spanning A/P, A/R, GL, reconciliations, and general admin.
Accurately reconciles all vendor accounts balances and processes Accounts Payable
Prepare and update various financial reports
A timely and positive first line of support for employee and manager requests for accounting-related information.
Maintains data entry and monitors the bank accounts daily, ensuring accounting accuracy in daily transactions.
Conducts extensive research to resolve complex discrepancies and adjusts accounts accordingly
Ensures that monthly journal entries and account reconciliations are prepared accurately and in a timely manner
Assists with the preparation of monthly financial analysis reports, forecasts, budgets, and actuals, ensuring they are GAAP compliant.
Brings new ideas and innovations to increase efficiencies in the accounting department as well as throughout the organization
Assists in the communication and implementation of new administrative products or systems throughout the company
Collaborates with others in the organization to support overall company goals and objectives
Process payroll and manage payroll accruals.
Conduct cash flow forecasting and margin analysis.
Perform month-end close procedures, including reconciling bank and credit card accounts.
Assist with new hire process by creating emails, adding to calendars, setting up payroll sheets, and calculating PTO.

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Degree and/or certifications in Accounting or a related field highly preferred. Practical experience in accounting practices and customer service highly preferred. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources. Ability to compute basic math.
Language Skills: Ability to exercise excellent leadership, communication, organization, time management and listening skills.
Computer Skills: Proficient with software including QuickBooks and Office 365 products, specifically Excel, PowerBI, Teams and SharePoint. Must have the ability to maneuver through websites with ease.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time. Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed tasks. Must have a strong customer service orientation. Ability to manage priorities and can adapt to meet the diverse needs of our customers and employees.
