Job Description OVERVIEW The Quality Engineer will work closely with cross-functional plant teams to provide excellence in quality, regulatory, and food safety leadership. This role will have responsibility for product quality and food safety on processing and packaging systems. This role offers a great deal of breadth, depth and accountability. In this role you will have the opportunity to develop communication and influence skills, a deep technical expertise of food safety and quality, and you will have an exposure to manufacturing environments both inside and outside of General Mills. Chanhassen is a North American Foodservice (NAF) bakery specializing in high value frozen and refrigerated solutions for food service, K12, national accounts, and N&O retail. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Provide Food, Sanitation and Quality (FSQ) leadership and direction through technical mastery in the areas of regulatory compliance, SPC, system capability, sanitation, hold order management, food safety program management and food safety risk mitigation. Provide plant technical support for new products, reformulations, and capital projects. Partner with operations, maintenance, sanitation and engineering to continuously reduce risk within operating plant. Ensure facility compliance with corporate Food Safety & Regulatory policies and standards. Support customer and 3rd party audits. Develop and conduct training in the areas of quality systems, SPC, regulatory, and food safety. Collaborate with sales and R&D to address customer complaints and manage product issues. Provide leadership to drive both department and overall plant objectives. Collaborate with Operations, R&D, Engineering, and FSQ teams to ensure product specifications, analytical procedures and sampling programs are appropriate and meet system capability and key consumer requirements. Using quality engineering principles to collect, analyze and interpret in-process and analytical data to make quality evaluations, recommend actions for improvement and assure resolution. Provide risk assessment analysis and manage issues with non-conforming product to ensure proper control, minimize losses, and provide analysis to eliminate future occurrences. Provide early management for new processing and packaging systems and ensure an effective product safety and sanitary design. Ensure the facility meets all FSSC, GMP, HACCP, regulatory, sanitation, and product safety guidelines. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelors Degree in related degree (Engineering - Chemical , Engineering - Industrial, Engineering - Mechanical, Engineering - Foods, Engineering - Packaging, Food Manufacturing Operations, Food Science and Industry, Food Science and Technology, or Food Science) 2+ years work experience Travel < 10% of time Ability to flex work schedule when required to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation. This includes weekend on-call support and early/late work hours. Understanding of product quality, sensory, and food safety. Understanding of internal policies/standards, regulatory requirements. Strong understanding of Continuous Improvement philosophy and tools. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, ability to apply engineering principles, and ability to troubleshoot. Demonstrated ability to apply the tools of statistics, problem solving and decision making. Demonstrated leadership and initiative. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 4+ yrs work experience Multiple manufacturing locations/experiences Strong understanding of Continuous Improvement/DSU philosophy and tools. Salary Range The salary range for this position is $68700.00 - $103200.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role.
