Egan Company Estimator - Mechanical in Champlin, Minnesota

Overview: If you like working in a fast-paced environment this position will be for you. The Mechanical Estimator is Responsible for the Timely, Accurate, and Consistent Estimates of Mechanical Projects. This includes Plumbing Systems, HVAC Piping Systems, HVAC Ductwork Systems, Equipment, & Other Components. Responsibilities: The Day to Day Responsibilities of the Mechanical Estimator includes, but are not limited to the following: Develop project estimates based on plans and specifications. Develop and communicate the trade-specific scope of work. Review all architectural, structural, mechanical, and specialty systems drawings and specifications. Review specifications and input requirements into Egan recap spreadsheet (Excel). Review all documents as they relate to the project. Compile a list of necessary subcontractors. Develop subcontractor scopes. Communicate RFP, scope, and coordination items. Work to develop an edge. Compile a list of required materials and equipment as it relates to the project. Material scopes. Communicate RFP, scope, and coordination items. Attend pre-bid conferences and walkthroughs. Perform detailed quantity take-offs, price, and labor on all items Plumbing, Piping, Sheet Metal. Utilization of On-Screen Takeoff Program. Enter summary data into Egan recap spreadsheet. Run comparative reports on alternative materials. Perform change order estimates. Assist in the development of budget estimates. Review project schedule and phasing requirements. Understand the plan for constructability. Material handling Pre-fabrication Means and methods Identify risk Identify general condition needs. Rigging Equipment rentals Participate in project turnover and setup. Participate in post-project reviews. Cooperate with others as a company resource. Position Requirements: Required: Two-year degree or applicable vocational-technical certificate or previous field experience in the mechanical trades. Minimum two years of estimating experience in related industry. Qualifications: Ability to Read and Interpret Drawings & Specifications. Working Knowledge of Codes in the Mechanical Disciplines. i.e. MN Plumbing Code, MN Mechanical & Fuel Gas Code, MN Energy Code, etc... Proficient in the use of standard office computer programs such as MS Project, Word, Excel, and Google Suites. Proficient in the use of standard office equipment including telephone, computer, printer, and copier. Strong organizational skills to deal with competing customer needs and handling multiple bids/proposals at a given time. Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills Ability to communicate with other employees in English sufficiently to understand and be easily understood. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide sufficiently to perform standard mathematical calculations. Ability to foresee events and anticipate changes in conditions and operations to the greatest extent possible and reacts to these appropriately. Working Conditions The performance of duties will mostly be in the office. Visits to job sites for pre-bid walkthroughs and throughout construction as needed. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Exposure to loud noise, dirt, and exposure to the elements when site visits are required. Option to have a Hybrid work schedule after 6 months.
