Mental Health Technician Opportunity -

The Pavilion Behavioral Health System includes a 110 bed inpatient hospital, a residential treatment center for youth and a residential addictions treatment program. Outpatient services include partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient services, as well as The Pavilion Foundation School, a private day school serving students with learning disabilities and behavior disorders. The Pavilion is located in Champaign, IL, within minutes of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus.

The Mental Health Technician is a vital part of The Pavilion's treatment team. This is a full time or part time position with an opportunity to work on the evening, or overnight shift. Our full time and part time positions require employees to work every other weekend and there is a competitive shift differential for the evening, night, and weekend shifts.

As a Mental Health Technician, you will:

  • Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment

  • Provide routine patient care as required in a psychiatric environment

  • Document and communicate unusual or erratic changes in client behaviors

  • Assist with patient groups and activities

  • Work with culturally and generationally diverse populations to meet their individual needs

  • Provide trauma informed and age-specific care

  • Maintain therapeutic boundaries and utilize crisis intervention techniques

    Qualifications

    Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; CNA preferred; Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred

  • College student who has obtained or are pursuing their degree in behavioral health, psychology, nursing or human services are preferred. Nursing Students Strongly preferred

  • One (1) or more year(s) of experience preferred - Preferable experience includes:

  • Experience working within an inpatient psychiatric hospital with children, adolescents and/or adults.

  • Experience with utilizing crisis intervention verbal and physical techniques

  • Experience conducting group therapy sessions, performing vital signs and documenting nursing progress notes.
