Wolfram Research, Inc. Accounts Payable Specialist in Champaign, Illinois
Wolfram, creator of Mathematica, WolframlAlpha and Wolfram Language, is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist for its Accounting department. Wolfram is a fast-paced, global technology company where there is always something new to research and learn. The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for monitoring the outflow of capital for the company.
A clear background check and credit check will be required for this role.
Responsibilities
Facilitating payment of vendors, related parties and consultants, which may include verifying federal ID numbers, reviewing purchase orders and resolving discrepancies
Ensuring outstanding obligations are credited upon payment, identifying discount opportunities and issuing purchase order amendments or stop-payment orders as needed
Assisting with accounting records and ledgers by reconciling monthly statements and transactions
Creating event GL codes in Oracle and preparing event statements as required
Recording entry of, verifying documentation for and distributing petty cash
Calculating and reporting sales tax based on paid invoices
Preparing and mailing 1099 forms
Continuously improving accounts payable processes by identifying and implementing efficiency-enhancing strategies
Ensuring compliance with company policies, accounting standards and regulatory requirements
Taking on additional accounting tasks or projects as assigned and acting as a backup for other accounting functions when necessary
Qualifications
High-school diploma
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be reliable and extremely trustworthy
Knowledge of office practices and clerical/accounting procedures
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related programs
Must be able to learn other accounting software systems
Ability to maintain confidential and meticulous records
Preferred qualifications
Business or accounting degree
Certified Accounts Payable Professional (CAPP) certification

Job Type: Full time (40 hours per week)/Permanent
Reporting to: Accounting Supervisor
Salary (for eligible candidates residing in the United States): The pay rate for this position is up to $20.00 per hour.
