Location: Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, PA
Schedule: Full Time

Full time (80 hours biweekly)
8 hour day (7:00 am to 3:30 pm)

The Interventional Radiology Flow LPN's primary responsibilities include managing the care of the patient population by developing expected patient outcomes in interventional radiology and working with the interventional radiology team members to set patient goals. Provides nursing support to the practice/hospital program(s) in order to optimize patient outcomes and to improve patient's quality of life through clinical and educational programs and/or support services. Schedules and prepares all patient procedures and provides pre-procedure education and instructions for day of procedure.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Identifies oneself in all telephone conversations. Portrays a friendly tone when speaking on the telephone.
Prepares for next day's schedule; obtains/retrieves requested data/schedules, etc. to promote efficient flow of workload.
Organizes and files required reports in the appropriate EMR chart.
Reviews patient order, ensuring that correct ordering doctor is listed on all orders. Ensures that any additional report requests are added.
Instructs patients to fill out history sheets as necessary for scheduled tests/procedures.
Scans all appropriate documents into system including doctor orders, face sheets, medication checklists, and consent forms.
Receives requests for scheduling tests/procedures by accurately and effectively using the telephone and scheduling systems to complete requests received from patients, physicians' offices, nursing homes, nursing floors, and schedules tests/procedures appropriately in accordance with departmental guidelines. Instructs caller as appropriate on required exam preps or lab tests for requested procedures.
Logs on to telephone system and schedules all tests/procedures in system as received either by phone or fax requisition requests.
Schedules patient procedures/appointments in accordance with departmental procedures; mails confirmation letter and related information to patient per departmental procedures as directed. Notifies ordering provider of patient appointment/authorization status.
Maintains a high degree of accuracy in the collection of demographic information.
Strives to avoid creating duplicate medical record numbers.
Follows add-on process for tests/procedures regarding scheduling for authorizations/referral process.
Communicates accurately and effectively both verbally and in written communication.
Efficiently and effectively manages multiple tasks.
Works in a fast paced, patient service oriented environment.
Maintains professional conduct in all work-related situations, including emergent situations.
Assesses, plans, implements, coordinates, and evaluates the effectiveness of the patient programs.
Promotes and reinforces patient centered concepts with patients and staff.
Collects data through patient tracking in order to facilitate patient outcome data collection and analysis.
Responds appropriately to emergency situations.
Accurately transcribes physician's orders within scope of practice.
Completes chart check to ensure no missed orders or pre-procedure required documents.
Demonstrates therapeutic communication skills.
Utilizes appropriate computer modules for Interventional Procedures scheduling including ORM, Medent, Community Wide Scheduling, PACS, Cortext, and all other systems required to coordinate scheduling for Interventional Procedures patients.
Serves as a resource contact and information/education source to patients, families, providers, and/or staff.
Assists the development, revision, and implementation of patient programs and/or marketing programs, materials, and resources to meet the specific needs of the patient population.
Works with providers, staff from other organization locations, third party payers, families, community resources, etc. to facilitate care of the patient throughout the continuum of care.
Maintains knowledge and satisfactorily complies with regulatory and third-party payers' procedures, notification requirements and criteria, documentation required in the medical record.
Communicates all pertinent information to the Registered Nurse.
Assumes responsibility and accountability for assisting in the completion of patient admission and documentation throughout hospitalization.
Collects data, identifies priority problems and documents on the Plan of Care in PCS.
Identifies critical factors evidencing changes in patient condition and responds appropriately and reports to the Registered Nurse.
Collaborates with the Registered Nurse to identify and initiate appropriate interventions to deal with problems/needs/education.
Initiates and maintains Intravenous Therapy according to IV standards.
Safely administers medications within the practice setting.
Utilizes proper body mechanics to prevent injury to self or others. Safely positions, transfers & transports patients.
Education:A. Graduate of an accredited School of Practical / Vocational Nursing required. B. Evidence of participation in educational programs to update and maintain current knowledge and clinical skills.
Experience:Experience applying customer service behaviors and communication skills required.
Previous nursing experience in interventional radiology preferred.
Interventional Procedures: Critical Care, Emergency Room, Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab experience preferred.
Certifications/Licensure:Currently licensed as a Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania. CPR certification required.
