Lead CNC Machinist/Programmer

Job Description

Day shift (6am-2:30pm) lathe machinist needed for manufacturing facility in Cerritos, CA.

A manufacturing company that designs, develops, and manufactures high-speed permanent magnet motor generators, magnetic bearings systems, and power electronics.

Their products are used in the aerospace, automotive, defense, energy, food, HVAC, industrial equipment, medical, marine, power generation, semiconductor, water, and wastewater industries. Its technology is being used in applications such as gas turbines, precision lasers, turbo expanders, electrically-assisted turbochargers, blood pumps, and air and gas compressors.

Responsibilities:

• Setup and Operate CNC Machine Tools (i.e., Mori-Seiki NL2500 & DMG-Mori NLX3000 lathes) and other general machine shop equipment.

• Establish efficient machining processes, develop setup and operation sheets to efficiently manage operations.

• Troubleshoot work in process on the machine when program, speed, tolerance, or finish problems occur.

• Read and interpret blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine holding requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences.

• Calculate and set machine controls to position cutting tools in relation to workpiece and to regulate factors such as depth of cut, speed, feed, and coolant flow.

• Perform routine machine maintenance.

• Design fixtures and tools as needed to fabricate parts.

• Inspect and measure parts as required.

Work Environment

Very clean, climate-controlled environment. Different departments include Assembly, Machining and Fabrication, Engineering, and Quality.

• Bend or stoop repeatedly or continually over time.

• Remain in a standing position for extended periods of time.

• Lifting objects up to 50 pounds may be required.

• Make fine, highly controlled muscular movements to adjust the position of a control mechanism (i.e., operating dials or pedals).

• Coordinate the movement of more than one limb simultaneously (i.e., operating the milling table vertically and horizontally).

• Flexible work schedule. Available as determined by changes in customer demand, to adjust shift start/end times and work overtime as needed.
