City of Centralia Environmental Specialist in Centralia, Washington

General Function: The main focus of this position is to protect the collection system and WWTP from prohibited discharges by enforcing City, State, and Federal regulations and to educate the general public and businesses about pollution prevention. Under general supervision of the Lead Wastewater Collections Technician, this position is responsible for the development and implementation of the Industrial Pretreatment Program, the Fats, Oil, and Grease (F.O.G.) Control Program, and the Grinder Pump Program.

Education and Experience: Must Possess: High school diploma or G.E.D.
Group 1 WWTPO Certification from Washington State Department of Ecology Two years' experience as an Environmental Specialist or implementing a Pretreatment Program
Valid Washington State driver's license with acceptable driving record
Preferred: WWC-1 from Washington Wastewater Collection Personnel Association Commercial Driver's License w/tanker endorsement Two years' experience with wastewater treatment and industrial waste regulations Must obtain: CPR certificate, flagger's card, and forklift operator certificate within one year.
