Job Summary and Qualifications

The Surgical Services Manager at Centennial Hospital is responsible for overseeing all aspects of our perioperative departments to include ensuring and delivering excellence in patient care, operational efficiency, and adherence to the highest standards of quality and safety. The manager, in partnership with the Director, will lead teams of dedicated professionals, collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and ancillary departments in a smaller, more intimate setting while still maintaining the highest standards of excellence in surgical care and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

A. Lead and Supervise the daily operations of preoperative, intraoperative, postoperative, and sterile processing departments including staffing levels, schedules, and assignments

B. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, as well as other departments and disciplines to optimize workflow, improve resource utilization, and elevate patient care delivery

C. Manage the recruitment, training, and performance evaluations of all surgical staff

D. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and best practices in surgical services

E. Foster a culture of continuous quality improvement, patient safety, and excellence in surgical care through education, training, and performance feedback

F. Participate in budget planning and management, resource allocation, and capital equipment procurement to support the objectives of the surgical departments

What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor’s Degree in nursing required; Master's Degree in nursing or related field desired.

  • Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current active multistate nursing licensure.

  • BLS through AHA or ARC

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive clinical and leadership experience in surgical services. OR experience is required.

  • Demonstrates strong clinical knowledge and expertise in surgical nursing and perioperative care. Demonstrates the ability to build trust and act with authenticity to cultivate a culture of integrity, inclusion, and mutual respect. Demonstrates knowledge of regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and quality improvement methodologies relevant to perioperative services. Demonstrates leadership ability, communication skills, and interpersonal skills to build and lead high performing teams.
