Job Description

Your Team

The Safety Manager is primarily responsible for the overall operations of the Brookfield Residential Safety program in Denver. The Safety Manager oversees and directs all policies with regard to Brookfield's safety program, develops and administers programs that educate employees, and ensures compliance with, all regulations issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other government agencies. The Safety Manager would also maintain the SWPPP field compliance responsibilities and work closely with Housing Operations on weekly audits. Additionally, the Safety Manager will serve in the Housing QA Department to assist in the inspection process. ​

Your Key Deliverables

  • Subject Matter Expert in construction safety regulations (OSHA) surrounding construction safety, develop and implement policies, procedures and other company-wide safety standards

  • Participate in industry association and / or initiatives

  • Lead the development and maintenance of corporate / regional safety programs

  • Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices

  • Facilitate a work environment that supports a safe and healthy culture

  • Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety legislation, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment

  • Ensure safety audits and inspection facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance are completed as required

  • Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes

  • Ensure Center Led reporting is timely and accurate.

  • Work with field team to assure weekly and monthly safety audits are performed.

  • Coordinates and schedules routine safety training and assures compliance with the division personnel.

  • Supports 3rd Party Inspection firms and performs stormwater inspections, generates follow up work orders and makes maintenance schedule recommendations on all active Housing projects.

  • Responds to customer complaints or inquiries from internal/external customers regarding operation and maintenance of stormwater drainage issues.

  • Manages contractors engaged in environmental audits and assessment.

  • Works closely with Construction Coordinators to maintain updated SWPPP permit and inspection record books regarding weekly inspections and timely NOI’s and NOT’s

  • Provides regular training on best practices and assures team members are holding trade partners accountable to maintaining erosion control measures.

  • Measures and review costs by community to keep spending within budget.

  • Ensure investigations are conducted on incidents and close calls, and occupational injuries to determine causes, install preventive measures, and manage return-to-work activities

  • Coordinate employee safety programs to determine their adequacy, including review of short and long term strategic safety planning and development

  • Ensure the order and maintained facility safety inventory, including supplies and equipment is completed as required

  • Perform other duties, as assigned

  • Assist Project Managers in final QA inspections on finished homes as needed

  • Maintain discrepancy frequency reports

  • Host training events surrounding the QA inspection process and purpose

    Must Haves

  • High School Diploma with 8-10 years working experience progressive construction safety and/or homebuilding experience, or higher education with 5 years working experience in progressive construction safety and/or homebuilding experience

  • Possess a certificate of 30-Hour OSHA training

  • Ability to build trust and confidence with management and supervisors

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Skills at obtaining and processing information and providing actionable feedback to the organization

  • Demonstrated customer service skills in dealing with internal customers and regulatory agencies

  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with high attention to detail

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

  • Certified in health and safety processes, or in health, safety and environmental processes, or health and safety consultant
