Arapahoe County Government Operations Technician - Temporary (Fairgrounds) in Centennial, Colorado

Under general supervision the Temporary Operations Technician (Fairgrounds) serves as a staff member within their functional area(s) and provides support to the Operations Team. This position performs a variety of semi-skilled work at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds Event Center, arenas, and surrounding grounds. Including event operations, facility operations, facility maintenance and assistance with various Departmental events to include the County Fair.

The full range for this position is advertised. The anticipated hourly hiring range for this position is $20.47 (minimum) to $25.58 (midpoint), dependent on candidate qualifications. DUTIES:

Completes and supports the activities of Event Center operational programs. Implements plans and logistics to carry out event and maintenance tasks and projects. Supports the safety procedures and performance of Operations Team. Assists Operations Team and contractors in meeting event and contract services standards and efficiency requirements. Performs and prepares facilities for event/meeting setup and teardown including tables, chairs, linens, staging, audio visual equipment, daily per rental customer contracts and needs. This includes the County Fair and other Departmental events. Assists with coordination, operation, and logistics of events in partnership with Fairground's event staff. Assists with small projects and facility improvements assigned by the Operations Supervisor from project research to project completion. Performs maintenance, repairs, and operational support for the following areas: drywall, plumbing, carpentry, doorways, painting, electrical, general HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning) preventative maintenance, lock replacement, and grounds/arena maintenance. Also performs custodial building maintenance to include cleaning, vacuuming, mopping, sanitizing, and associated equipment operation. Inspects and maintains the property including but not limited to, event spaces, classrooms, offices, restrooms, food service areas, water fountains, floors, mirrors, doors, ceilings, walls, trash cans, facility rental inventory, and other related equipment and facilities to ensure buildings are presentable and in accordance with Department standards. Safely operates and maintains equipment including but not limited to County vehicles, trailers, snowplows, tractors, portable bleachers, UTVs, golf carts, floor scrubbers, aerial lifts, turf mowers, string trimmers, and po Supports the removal of debris and snow from Fairgrounds including parking lots, and sidewalks using tractors, pick-up trucks, as well as blowing, sweeping and snow removal equipment. Supports County level snow removal and emergency management operations when necessary. Supports the operations and logistics associated with special events occurring at the Fairgrounds Event Center, 17 Mile House Farm Park, or through Departmental partnerships. SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge specific to facility management related to general carpentry, building mechanical systems, and preventative maintenance. Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and techniques of public and private event operations and management. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions which includes communicating in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing. Ability to work independently and show good judgement. Ability to work safely by utilizing applicable PPE's and adhering to all safety protocol/procedures. Ability to use materials, tools, and equipment to support events, grounds, and buildings. xcellent customer service skills with an emphasis in effective written and verbal communication. Strong focus on meeting the client's needs. Ability to exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with clients, County staff, contractors, vendors, and the public.BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES: Accountability Accessibility Inclusivity Integrity Requirements EDUCATION: High School diploma or GED equivalent. 0-1 years of experience in event operations, building maintenance, or another related field. Equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job may be considered. EXPERIENCE: Training or certification in event management, facilities management, or another related field. Class B CDL Event operations, facility operation, and customer service experience. Supplemental Information PRE-EMPLOYMENT OR POST-EMPLOYMENT (within time frames listed) REQUIREMENTS: Must successfully pass pre-employment testing which includes an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) and background check. Possession of a valid Class "R" or Class B Colorado Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within two weeks of appointment. Ability to obtain Class A CDL within 12 months. Must be able to pass CDL medical exam. Forklift and Scissor Lift Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
