POSITION SUMMARY: Under direct supervision performs a variety of water/wastewater systems, facilities, and equipment repair and maintenance work; performs related duties as required. This position will support all departments at ACWWA and may move around to do various duties. Depending on qualifications, this position is from Entry Level to Maintenance Technician 3. The first priority is the safe and continuous operation of the Arapahoe County Water and Wastewater Authority's physical facilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. The Maintenance Technician maintain and repairs water, water reclamation, and wastewater systems, facilities, and equipment; including pump systems, pressure reducing stations, valves, cla-vals, and related appurtenances and structures; performs landscaping and grounds maintenance duties; performs construction and maintenance work on District buildings and facilities as assigned.
  2. Repair and maintains water, water reclamation, and pressure reducing/sustaining stations, cla-vals, and pump stations; sewer systems such as lift stations, pressure lines, and related structures.
  3. Assist in the repair of equipment within the water reclamation facilities; loads and unloads trucks; cleans up work sites upon completion of job; operates and assists in the preventive maintenance on pumps, repairs valves and related water pump station, lift station, and reclamation plant equipment; reads and interprets plans, maps, and prints.
  4. Observe safe work methods and safety precautions related to the work; flags and cones work sites for traffic control; shores trenches; uses appropriate safety devices and equipment.
  5. Operate and maintains a wide variety of hand and power tools related to the work including spaders, tampers, breaking guns, jack hammers, concrete saws, etc.
  6. The maintenance technician operate a variety of trucks and equipment; inspects vehicles and performs minor maintenance; reports needed repairs;
  7. The maintenance technician estimate and secures tools, materials, and equipment necessary to complete assignments; requests parts and supplies as necessary.
  8. Prepare and maintains a variety of computerized and written records and reports related to work performed.
  9. Operate copiers and a variety of office equipment.
  10. Perform duties in a professional manner and works well with others or in a team setting;
  11. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers, outside agencies, and the public.
  12. Regular attendance and adherence to prescribed work schedule to conduct job responsibilities;

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of: The equipment, techniques, and procedures involved in the maintenance and repair of potable water pump stations, altitude control valves, pressure reducing/sustaining stations, water reclamation plant, sewer lift stations, and related facilities and equipment Related laws, ordinances, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; codes and regulations applicable to the work Operation and maintenance of a wide variety of hand and power tools and equipment common to the work performed Safe work methods and safety regulations pertaining to the work Basic computerized record keeping applications Shop mathematics Principles and practices of electrical and confined space protection

Ability to: Be on-call on a rotational basis and work outside of regular work hours as necessary, including weekends and holidays Perform a variety of repair, and maintenance tasks Work under routine and emergency conditions, sometimes in severe weather
