Arapahoe County Government Fleet Shuttler - Part Time in Centennial, Colorado

Description Performs a variety of skilled and unskilled duties for Fleet Management division, including shuttling vehicles throughout the County. This position requires a minimum of 24 work hours per week.

NOTE: This position is scheduled to work 48 hours per pay period. (Tues-Thurs) Scheduled working hours are 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. The anticipated hourly hiring range for this position is $19.00 per hour, dependent on candidate qualifications. Duties The following duty statements are illustrative of the essential functions of the job and do not include other non essential or marginal duties that may be required. The County reserves the right to modify or change the duties or essential functions of the job at any time. Shuttle vehicles from various locations to the Peoria facility and back. Drive County vehicles to emission stations for testing. Operate a County vehicle for the purpose of pickup and delivery of ordered parts. Deliver County vehicles to and from dealerships for safety recalls and technical updates to include warranty repair. Ensure that all safety rules and regulations are followed to the prescribed measures. Complete miscellaneous errands to support Facilities & Fleet Management Department operations. Drive to all County facilities in the metropolitan area, including the Eastern Service Center and Deer Trail. Pick-up trustees and return trustees to the Arapahoe County Detention Center as requested. Ensure that the requested vehicles are cleaned before returning to the customer. Responsible for cleaning/maintaining shops wash bay to include cleaning the sand traps under the washing grates. Assisting shop mechanics with vehicle decontamination per work order request. On occasion, serve as a backup for a shuttler on leave or during expected or unexpected absences. Perform basic physical labor during winter storm duty, which includes scraping ice off of the windshield, removing snow, installing light bar covers on the sheriff's vehicles, and clearing snow from other Fleet vehicles. Perform other related duties as assigned. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to safely operate automotive equipment, including automatic and manual shift. Knowledge of safety rules, regulations, and practices. Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbal and in writing. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, County employees, vendors, and the general public. Ability to use County computer systems for the purpose of logging on and off of Fleet software system, email and other applications deemed necessary. EXPERIENCE: One or more years of recent driving experience required.

Supplemental Information PRE-EMPLOYMENT ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must successfully pass pre-employment testing which includes an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) check and background check. and drug screen.POST-EMPLOYMENT ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: This position will require post-hire fingerprinting, a CBI background check and successfully completing bi-annual Colorado Justice Information System (CJIS) training. Must possess and maintain a valid class "R" Colorado Driver's License. Must maintain a good driving record in accordance with the Arapahoe County Risk Management Guidelines. Position is deemed essential and incumbents must be available for winter storm or other emergency events and available to work on an on-call rotational basis which requires evening, holidays and weekends.WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work area is within the Fleet maintenance shop, in the field, and in a vehicle. Position may require work to be performed in the field as well as the shop, thus exposing incumbent to all weather conditions and temperature changes, various riving conditions, fumes, smoke, high noise levels and potentially dangerous working conditions.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The following are some of the physical demands commonly associated with this position. Spends the majority of time either upright while in the shop, field, or driving a vehicle. Occasionally lifts, carries, pushes, and pulls up to 50 lbs. while performing duties in the shop and field. Occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, crouches, and kneels while performing duties in the shop and field. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication. Auditory capacity to endure long term exposure to loud noises. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination while using tools, machinery and the computer. Physical capacity to safely operate County vehicles and machinery. Definitions: Occasionally: Activity exists less than 1/3 of the time. Frequently: Activity exists between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time. Constantly: Activity exists more than 2/3 of the time.
