An intern will be hired each semester to work in the Credit Services/Loan Support Department. Though the intern will work primarily in the department they are hired for, they may be asked to assist in any and all areas of the bank. Hours are flexible and will revolve around class schedules. SBSU strives to partner with local universities to identify Junior or Senior class students to fill our internship openings.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Loan Documentation: Assist in collecting, scanning, tracking and organizing business and personal financial statements and tax returns. Combine documents to create borrower loan files. Assist in organizing digital loan files as well as scan loan files.

  • Incompletes: Remove loans files from an ‘incomplete list’ by satisfactorily filling requirements stated by the Audit and Compliance Departments.

  • SBA Loans: Prepare and submit Small Business Administration applications, reviews, servicing actions and liquidation packages.

  • Financial Analysis: Use internal tools to determine the ability of a borrower to repay debt. Spread financial statements and provide loan officers a brief analysis of borrower strengths and weaknesses.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Within 12 months of attaining a Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or within 12 months of attaining an MBA or MAcc

  • Minimum grade point average of 3.0

  • No criminal record of any kind; HR will complete a thorough background check

  • Ability to work 18-20 hours per week

    Skills

  • Strong competency in finance related studies

  • Skilled in use of Excel

  • Self-driven to complete tasks and seek additional responsibilities
