Sutter Health OB Tech - Short Hour Night Shift in Castro Valley, California

Position Overview:

Plans and organizes the scrub and preparation aspects in the care of surgical patients. Collaborates with the RNs, surgeons and all healthcare team members. Maintains AORN standards of professional nursing practice.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

Customer Care

a. Assists the OB team during operative procedures while maintaining safe, sterile environment.

b. Assists the nursing staff to maintain a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patient/families in accordance with hospital standards.

c. Assists RN with procedures, set up for deliveries, sterile spec exams, assist with pushing efforts and patient positioning.

Communication

a. Maintains effective communication with the physician and health team members. Relates with patients, public and team members in a manner conducive to a harmonious working environment in which patient centered goals are achieved.

b. Identifies and immediately reports any breaks in aseptic techniques by self or others.

Customer Satisfaction

a. Delivers care in a manner that preserves/protects client/resident autonomy, dignity and rights; demonstrates sensitivity to patient's comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their progress; is non-judgmental and non-discriminatory; maintains patient confidentiality.

b. Assists in achieving and maintaining positive patient satisfaction survey results.

c. Prioritizes work and provides prompt and efficient service.

Ensures that department and equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner. Maintains L&D OR equipment and instruments to ensure equipment is in safe working order.

EDUCATION

Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

CST-Certified Surgical Technologist preferred

BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider

NRP-Neonatal Resuscitation Provider preferred

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

3-5 years Minimum three year experience in Labor and Delivery as Obstetrical Technician

Surgical Technician training preferred

Experience in basic computer skills preferred.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Basic knowledge of obstetrical/medical terminology is desirable.

Knowledge of Aseptic technique.

Surgical scrub procedures, use of sterile technique, instruments, and set-up procedures for the delivery/OR room.

Knowledge of the anesthesia cart and equipment.

Pay Range is $34.48 to $42.00 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
