Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Ecological Restoration Technician in Cass Lake, Minnesota

Division: Resource Management Reports to: Plant Resources Program Director Worksite: Leech Lake DRM Compound Work Hours: M Th, 6:00am 4:30pm, hours may vary LLBO Status: Non-Exempt Safety Sensitive: Yes License/Certification Requirements: Valid MN Driver's License, current insurance or be insurable. Summary: Assists the plant resources department in research and management projects related to native plants within the Leech Lake Reservation. Duties/Responsibilities: Complete work and tasks in a timely manner as directed by the LLDRM Plants Director or Assistant Manager. Work under the direction of the Botanist and/or crew leader to implement a variety of restoration projects intended to be control methods for non-native invasive species (NNIS). Prune apple orchard/fruit free sites. Coordinate with food bank to organize a community harvest in the fall. Follow protocol for field work and accurate data collection. Water and maintain pollinator gardens and other restoration areas as needed Applicant must have good organizational skills. Assist in the botanical surveys and assessments of plant communities/ecosystems on reservation lands and ROWs Responsible for practicing and insuring work place safety within the field and offce at all times. Attend and or conduct all mandatory meetings and trainings as required. Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics at all times. Understanding and sensitive to Native American culture. Adhere to policies governing staff conduct. Assist in the implementation of habitat enhancement projects for plants and/or wildlife on the reservation. Keep an accurate daily log of field activities. All other related duties as assigned.
